Strawberries are probably my favorite fruit. Although I love strawberries, and I love pie I don't think I've ever had a strawberry pie. Once again I went to my copy of Pie by Ken Haedrich and found this recipe. It's a very simple pie to bake, and you'll be very please with what comes out of the oven.
4 cups strawberries.
You're going to want thick slices. Most of the strawberries I just cut in half, but I sliced the particularly large ones into thirds.
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Now that you've got a bunch of sliced strawberries, it's time to add some ingredients.
1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice.
Mix conrnstarch and sugar together in one container.
Mix cornstarch/sugar with strawberries.
It will begin to form a syrupy mixture.
Mix in lemon juice & nutmeg.
Pour mixture into pre-made pie shell.
Beautiful.
Dot the top with your butter.
Cover strawberries with top crust, and make some vents. Use a fork to press the two crust together around the rim of the pie. Make sure to moisten first.
Sprinkle some sugar over the top and brush the crust with milk.
Let your pie hang out in the oven for 30 mins at 400°F. Turn your pie 180 degrees and bake for another 30 mins at 375°F.
MMMMMMMMMM!
